We've been repairing iPods in Leeds for over 18 years now, during that time we've learnt a lot about how the devices work, the common issues each model have and the best repair methods.
Over the years we have noticed that each iPod model comes with it's own set of issues. The iPod Classic line have quite robust displays but tend to suffer from headphone jack faults and fluid seeping on to the logic board through the unsealed front click wheel. If you are experiencing sound only coming out of one ear on your iPod video for example, then a simple switch out of the headphone jack/hold switch cable will have you hearing your music in stereo again in no time. As the iPod classic line is now more than a decade old, we see a lot of worn batteries that aren’t holding charge like they used to. Again, a swift battery replacement can be done in under 15 minutes and your listening time will be back in to the hours again.
The iPod nano models are small and relatively fragile compared to the sturdy iPod classics. Here we see a lot more broken screens and water damage as customers forget their device is in their pockets when clothing gets sent to the washing machine. Some of the nano models are so small and intricately built that replacing parts is no longer a cost effective solution. If this was ever the case, we would always let you know in advance and recommend replacing the iPod in it's entirety.
The iPod touch line-up has become a lot more common than it was when first released, especially as more music is streamed and the devices are powerful enough to handle gaming. The larger touch displays are easily cracked and we are able to replace the screens on every touch model, right the way back to the 1st generation. The newer generations of iPod touch have very thin batteries so their lifespan only lasts a few years. Even though replacing them requires some delicate soldering work, we can still have a new battery fitted in under half an hour and you wouldn’t even know anyone had been inside.
As mentioned previously, we've now been repairing iPods for quite some time. During this we've always been committed to using original components paired with the best workmanship. This means we aren't always the cheapest option available, but we feel we do offer the best available independent repair option for Apple products.
We don't offer different tiers or grades of parts, only original quality, every time. This ensures your device performs just as it did before the repair with no loss of functionality or performance. We also ensure devices are disassembled and reassembled according to spec. We don't leave parts out, and any small components missing from a previous poor repair will be changed as part of your repair with us. We also replace any seals which have to be broken to complete your repair, to ensure water and dust resistance. You wouldn’t even notice your cherished iPod had even been opened up as the tools and techniques we use leave no mark on the casing
You wouldn’t want any old cheap bits and bobs used to fix a device that was expensive to purchase in the first place would you? It would be like putting recycled tyres on a sports car…yes you can get away with it but they won’t last very long and can often have disastrous consequences!
All the components we use to repair iPods are original OEM quality parts. For some of the almost antique models, we do have to use refurbished components as the bits simply aren’t produced any more. This doesn’t mean though that they aren’t thoroughly inspected and tested before fitting and our warranty covers any unexpected issues that may arise. For the newer models of iPods and all the replacement batteries we fit, the parts are supplied straight from the factory.
We aim to offer the best available independent repairs, from our Leeds based stores. We only use the best parts available and our repairs are often much cheaper than going to the Apple Store. So if you have a smashed screen, bad battery or any other fault, we're sure we'll have a solution that you'll be happy with.
